About the City Attorney's Office

The City Attorney’s Office serves as legal counsel for the City of Del City and is committed to providing timely, professional, and effective legal services to the City’s elected officials, boards, commissions, and departments. The office works to protect the legal interests of the City while promoting fair, lawful and efficient municipal government for the benefit of the Del City community.

Legal Counsel to the City

The City Attorney’s Office serves as legal counsel to the City of Del City and provides legal advice and representation to the City’s elected officials, boards, commissions, authorities, departments, and employees in matters relating to municipal government.

The City Attorney’s Office provides legal services to the:

Mayor
City Council
Del City Municipal Services Authority
Del City Economic Development Authority
City Manager
City departments, boards, commissions, and officials

Responsibilities of the City Attorney’s Office include:

Providing legal advice and opinions to City officials and departments on matters involving municipal government
Drafting and reviewing ordinances, resolutions, contracts, policies, intergovernmental agreements, and other legal documents
Representing and defending the City in litigation and administrative proceedings
Initiating legal actions on behalf of the City when authorized
Conducting legal research and advising City officials regarding compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws

Municipal Prosecution

In addition to serving as legal counsel for the City, the City Attorney’s Office prosecutes cases within the jurisdiction of the Del City Municipal Court, including:

Violations of City ordinances
Applicable Oklahoma misdemeanor offenses prosecuted in Municipal Court
Juvenile non-traffic offenses
Appeals from the Municipal Court to the District Court

The office works closely with the Del City Police Department, Municipal Court, and other City departments to ensure cases are handled fairly, professionally, and in accordance with the law.

Expungement Filings

Petitions and proposed orders for expungements should be submitted by U.S. Mail. Please include the Petition, proposed Orders, and when appropriate certified file-stamped Orders.
